This Privacy Policy explains how Attic ("we", "us", "our"), operated by adboio, LLC, handles your information.

1. Privacy by Design

Attic is built with privacy as a core principle. Your data stays on your device.

  • No accounts required - Attic works entirely without sign-up or login
  • No cloud storage - Your notes and memories are stored locally on your device
  • On-device AI - All AI processing happens on your iPhone, nothing is sent to external servers
  • Your data is yours - Export or import your data anytime

2. What Stays on Your Device

The following data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party:

  • Notes and memories you create
  • Voice recordings and transcriptions
  • AI-generated embeddings and search indexes
  • Your recall/question history
  • App preferences and settings

We cannot access this data. We do not have the ability to read, recover, or view your content.

3. What We Collect

Attic collects minimal data to improve the app:

Analytics (PostHog)

We use PostHog to understand how the app is used. We have disabled session recordings, screen capture, and automatic tracking. We only capture explicit events like:

  • Feature usage events (e.g., "note created", "search performed")
  • App version and iOS version
  • Device type (e.g., iPhone 15)

What we do NOT collect:

  • Session recordings or screenshots
  • Screen views or navigation paths
  • Any content from your notes
  • Lifecycle events (app open/close)

Note: PostHog may collect your IP address as part of standard web requests. This is used for basic geolocation (country-level) and is not tied to your identity. We do not use this data to identify individual users.

4. Third-Party Services

Attic uses two external services:

Superwall (Subscriptions)

Superwall manages our subscription paywalls and in-app purchases. When you subscribe:

  • Payment is processed by Apple, not Superwall or us
  • We do not receive your payment details
  • Superwall may collect anonymous conversion analytics

PostHog (Analytics)

PostHog helps us understand app usage patterns. We have configured PostHog with privacy-focused settings (no session replay, no screenshots, no automatic tracking).

5. What We Do NOT Do

  • We do NOT send your notes to any server
  • We do NOT use cloud-based AI services
  • We do NOT create user accounts or profiles
  • We do NOT track you across apps or websites
  • We do NOT sell or share your data
  • We do NOT use your data for advertising

6. On-Device AI

All AI features in Attic run entirely on your device using Apple's on-device machine learning:

  • Speech transcription
  • Text embeddings for semantic search
  • Question answering and recall

No content leaves your device for AI processing.

7. Data Portability

You have full control over your data:

  • Export - Export all your notes and data anytime from within the app
  • Import - Import previously exported data to restore or transfer to a new device
  • Delete - Delete all data by uninstalling the app or using the in-app reset option

Since data is stored only on your device, uninstalling the app permanently deletes all your content.

8. Data Security

Your data is protected by:

  • iOS device encryption
  • App sandboxing (other apps cannot access Attic's data)
  • Face ID / Touch ID protection (if enabled)

Since your data never leaves your device, there is no server to breach.

9. Payments

All purchases are handled by Apple In-App Purchase.

  • We do not receive your payment card details
  • Refunds follow Apple's refund policies
  • Subscription management is done through your Apple ID settings

10. Children

Attic is not designed for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If changes are significant, we will notify users in-app.
